Energy Organizations and Information
ASE: The Alliance to Save Energy undertakes research, educational programs, and policy advocacy, designs and implements energy-efficiency projects, promotes technology development and deployment, and builds public-private partnerships, in the U.S. and other countries.
ASES: The American Solar Energy Society is a national organization that strives to accelerate the development and use of solar and other renewable energy resources through advocacy, education, research, and collaboration.
BCAP: The Building Codes Assistance Project is a joint initiative of the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), the American Council of an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), and the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC). Since its start in 1994, BCAP has worked throughout the United States, at the national, regional, state, and local levels, to advocate for stronger and more effective building energy codes.
CREST: The Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology's goal is to accelerate the use of renewable energy by providing credible information, insightful policy analysis, and innovative strategies amid changing energy markets and mounting environmental needs by researching, publishing, and disseminating information, creating policy tools, and hosting highly active, on-line, renewable energy discussion groups.
DSIRE: The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.
EERE: The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network's mission is to enhance energy efficiency and productivity with clean, reliable and affordable energy technologies.
Energy Ideas Clearinghouse: Since 1990, the Energy Ideas Clearinghouse has provided comprehensive, technical resources that Pacific Northwest business, industry, government and utilities use to implement energy technologies and practices. EnergyIdeas is operated and managed by the Washington State University Extension Energy Program in Olympia, Washington.
EPA Energy Star Program: ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. EPA provides an innovative energy performance rating system which businesses have already used for more than 30,000 buildings across the country and recognizes top performing buildings with the ENERGY STAR.
IDEA: The International District Energy Association fosters the success of its members as leaders in providing reliable, economical, efficient and environmentally sound district energy services.
NAED: The National Association of Electrical Distributors University Alliance affiliate membership allows universities and their students the opportunity to join at a special rate and gain access to unique learning and networking opportunities.
NEF: The National Energy Foundation is a nonprofit, educational organization that works to cultivate and promote energy literacy.
University of California Energy Institute: The University of California Energy Institute, located on the Berkeley campus, is a multi-campus research unit of the University of California system. Since its inception in 1980, UCEI's mission has been to foster research and educate students and policy makers on crucial energy issues.
U.S. Department of Energy - The Department of Energy's overarching mission is to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States; to promote scientific and technological innovation in support of that mission; and to ensure the environmental cleanup of the national nuclear weapons complex.
WEEA: The World Energy Efficiency Association assists developing countries in accessing information on energy efficiency; serves as a clearinghouse for information on energy eficiency programs, technologies and measures; publicizes international cooperation efforts in energy efficiency; and disseminates this information worldwide.
National and International Programs and Organizations for Advancing Campus Sustainability
ACORE: The American Council on Renewable Energy Higher Education Committee (HEC) provides forums, information, tools, and other resources to increase the use of renewable energy on university campuses, develop education resources, and to increase funding for higher education-based research and devlopment on renewable energy.
AASHE: The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education is a membership-based association of colleges and universities working to advance sustainability in higher education in the U.S. and Canada. AASHE promotes sustainability in all sectors of higher education - from governance and operations to curriculum and outreach - through education, communication, research and professional development.
Cleaner and Greener Program: The Cleaner and Greener Program works with organizations, buildings, events and schools to reduce air pollution that has adverse effects on both human and environmental health.
HEASC: The Higher Education Associations for Sustainability Consortium is an informal network of higher education associations with a commitment to advancign education for a sustainable future, both within their constituenties and within the sytem itself.
Second Nature: A leader in the effort to make sustainability a goal of all higher education learning and practice for more than a decade, Second Nature can help your college, university, or association develop, advance, and achieve the vision of a truly sustainable higher education institution. Through advisory services and workshops, Second Nature has led the way in helping over 500 colleges and universities throughout the country begin to move towards sustainability.
SBIC: The Sustainable Buildings Council is committed to high-performance design and construction, in the allied fields of architecture, engineering, building systems and materials, product manufacturing, energy analysis, and "whole building" design. SBIC provides information on all aspects of sustainable design and construction: energy efficiency, renewable technologies, daylighting, healthy indoor environments, sustainable building materials and products, and resource conservation
ULSF: The mission of the Association of University Leaders for a Sustainable Future is to make sustainability a major focus of teaching, research, operations, and outreach at colleges and universities worldwide. ULSF pursues this mission through advocacy, education, research, assessment, membership support, and international partnerships to advance sustainability.
NWF: The Campus Ecology Project of the National Wildlife Federation supports and promotes positive and practical conservation projects on campus.
