EFFECTIVE & INNOVATIVE PRACTICES AWARD APPLICATION
APPA's Effective & Innovative Practices Award recognizes programs and processes that enhance service delivery, lower costs, increase productivity, improve customer service, generate revenue, or otherwise benefit the educational institution. Entries can describe either a new program or significant restructuring of an existing program or process.
Entry Instructions
All APPA Institutional and Affiliate members in good standing are eligible to
enter. An institution may enter up to five practices, submitting a separate
application for each entry. Submissions must be submitted online and must
include one (1) attached file.
Deadlines
The APPA.org award submissions are always open.
The deadline is for all APPA 2008 awards was January 30, 2008. APPA is currently not accepting any other applications for APPA 2008.
The deadline for all APPA 2009 (scheduled for March 2009) awards is November 15, 2008.
All entries must include:
- Completed, signed application
- Brief statement of program/practice and its results (not to exceed 200 words)
- Detailed narrative description of the practice or program, limited to one page or less for each of the criteria listed below:
- Institutional benefits
- Characteristics or qualities that make this program or practice different or innovative
- How this practice can be used by others
- Demonstration of management involvement and employee commitment
- Documentation of results, analysis, customer feedback, and resulting benchmarks.
ELECTRONIC SUBMITTALS
Entries will be distributed to members of APPA's Professional Affairs Committee for review and evaluation. Winners will be selected based on their point score. The top five (5) entries may receive an award. The Committee reserves the right to select fewer than five (5) awards if entries are not of sufficient quality. All applicants will be notified of their status in May.

Study Shows School Cleanliness Affects Learning
Entitled Cleanliness and Learning in Higher Education, the national study of college students was based around the five levels of clean identified in APPA’s Custodial Staffing Guidelines for Educational Facilities.
