APPA 2010 Podcasts |
At no time in recent memory have educational facilities professionals faced the challenges being experienced today. Likewise, APPA’s role in developing facilities professionals into effective leaders and addressing key topics has never been more important in shaping our future. APPA’s premier annual conference, APPA 2010 in Boston, MA focused on several key issues we face; the economy, sustainability, energy, succession planning, and safety and security. APPA 2010 provided attendees the opportunity to not only explore these important topics in detail, but the collaboration and interaction with peers makes this conference an unmatched value among the critical choices we make in the year ahead to better support the educational mission we serve.
APPA is making available to you the following sessions free from APPA 2010 - Boston:

Breakout Session - Codes and Standards for University Facilities
Much of the construction and infrastructure criteria in the college and university environment originates in consensus documents developed according to a process established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The APPA Code Advisory Task Force (CATF) has had success in managing the competing requirements of safety and economy in campus facilities by participating in the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) code development process. In this session, the NFPA codes and standards development process will be discussed along with the resources that NFPA has to assist in this endeavor. The NFPA documents that apply to our industry will be noted, as well as an update on the prospect for developing a single ANSI/NFPA/APPA document that could provide coherence to the broad subject of code and standard compliance among educational campuses.
