The BOK is structured around the four core areas that serve as the foundation of the Institute for Facilities Management and the Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) certification.

APPA's trilogy of popular operational and staffing guidelines publications have been fully updated and expanded. The three books in the Operational Guidelines for Educational Facilities series focus on the critical functions of Custodial, Grounds, and Maintenance.

Strategic Capital Development: The New Model for Campus Investment presents a bold aproach for planning capital investments from a strategic and long-range perspective. Authors Harvey H. Kaiser and Eva Klein define the stewardship principles necessary to create and sustain a built environment that is responsive to institutional strategies and functions, that remains attractive to faculty and students, and optimizes available resources.

Buildings…The Gifts That Keep On Taking: A Framework for Integrated Decision Making, explores the need for a comprehensive asset investment strategy on campus. “Legislators like to dole out cash, make a big splash, put people to work,” according to the book’s primary author, Rod Rose.

In Leadership in Educational Facilities Administration, APPA Fellow and Past President Christopher K. Ahoy shares the wisdom he gained while leading Iowa State University Facilities Planning and Management Department on a 12-year journey to becoming a world-class organization.
