and you will not need to restart or reboot your system).

These webinars will walk you through the newly enhanced 2008-09 FPI survey step-by-step.
Here are some of the features we will review:

  • New home page features such as the chat forum, survey administrator access, survey
PDF downloads, a module overview and how to assign modules to others.
  • A detailed review of Modules 1 and 2 as well as a high level overview of the other five
    modules.
  • A review of the Instant Report features.
  • A thorough analysis of the Audit Report function.
  • Orientation to the FPI report and a look at the Dashboards as well as cohort comparison
    tools and features.
  • As a senior facilities and/or business officer, you are constantly making business cases or
defending a decision that impacts capital assets while trying to align facilities planning
with your institution’s Mission and Vision.
  • What kind of meaningful information will hit home with you and get you to think about the
facilities organization in a constructive manner with relevant and important metrics for
    future facilities expenditures?
  • You already know your facilities organization can maintain the campus and can plan
for new facilities. But are you aware of what's important to your overall facilities
operation in order to successfully manage the campus and do you understand how the
role of facilities fits in with that level of importance?

APPA’s Executive Level Dashboards will help you focus on information that non-facilities people
want which will in turn meet your information needs and will often result in solutions that facility
officers will prefer. The Dashboards provide a common data source to answer the campus-
specific or difficult questions that still need to be answered and addressed on your campus.

Broadening Your Campus View by Expanding on Your MHEC FPI Survey Results
(1 hour and 30 minutes, 171 MB, WMV, Windows Media Audio/Video File. Due to technical difficulties, we recommend that you advance the video to the 6 minute mark.)

  • Do you know how your campus stands up to its peers?  Or, what the best practices are?
  • Do you know what areas within your operation are performing best?  Opportunities for improvement?
  • How well is your facilities portfolio in alignment with your institution’s strategic direction and academic focus?
  • What is your facilities inventory, square footage, and building ownership costs?
  • Do you know if efficiency improvement plans have actually worked or if they have not worked as intended?

Answering these and many other such questions will help you make the business case for your facilities’ needs.

APPA’s annual Facilities Performance Indicators Survey (FPI Survey) is a comprehensive collection of facilities-related operational costs and personnel information, strategic financial measures, and much more.  The FPI survey is a portfolio of the key facilities measures that address the essential questions every facilities professional must be able to answer in order to effectively perform their roles. The resulting Facilities Performance Indicators reports are Web-based and include numerous charts, dashboard gauges, a peer review feature, and a searchable database. The report is utilized by many participating institutions as a robust benchmarking and cohort comparison tool.

This webinar will introduce the APPA FPI survey and report tool to you.  We will make the case as to why you should participate in the FPI survey.  We’ll discuss best practices for completing the survey and we will provide you with an orientation to the full FPI report which includes many additional features and resources beyond the Dashboards.
