Facilities Performance Indicators

Data collection for Fiscal Year 2007-08
NOW OPEN!

Transforming Data into Practical Knowledge and Institutional Wisdom

Make the Business Case for Your Facilities' Needs

How well is your facilities portfolio in alignment with your institution’s strategic direction? Its academic focus?

Do you know exactly how many buildings you have on campus and how efficiently your facilities operate?

Do you know how your campus stands up to its peers?

Can you answer your campus administrators’ questions with hard data, charts, and graphs to support your projects?

Your job as an educational facilities professional depends on this knowledge. But how do you get it if you don’t already have it?

Participate in APPA’s Facilities Performance Indicators (FPI) survey and you can not only gather this information but have it virtually in your hip pocket at all times!

The FPI Survey is Now OPEN - Data Collection Ends December 1, 2008

• Gives you a framework with which to
educate campus decision makers about
critical management realities.

• Defines essential data points, vastly reducing the number of indicators you need to collect.

• Allows you the simplicity you need for data entry, and packages the data in a framework to help you tell your story.

• Gives you the choice as to how much data you need to input.

• Allows you to compare and contrast with
data from other campuses.

Track Your Facilities' Vital Signs

Organizational excellence and long-term effectiveness can only be achieved by striving to create a balance between four perspectives.

Collect less data, get more results

Create a balanced scorecard of data around your institutional vision & mission

The 2008 FPI will continue to embrace the concepts of the Balanced Scorecard through the inclusion of indicators from each of the four balanced scorecard perspectives.

The organizing framework, however, will shift from modules to an Essential Question Set for which all facilities professionals should have the answers. The new framework will also allow facilities professionals to easily and clearly share these answers with campus decision makers.

The Essential Questions:

1. What facilities make up our institution?

2. Is my institution adequately funding the facilities management annual budget?

3. Are the operating funds that my facilities department receives being spent in a manner that supports desired outcomes?

4. Is my institution making the right investment in our existing buildings, infrastructure and academic programs?

5. Are the customers satisfied with the space and service?

6. Am I building a staff that can sustain excellence?

Want the data from the FPI but don’t have time to collect it
yourself?

APPA-trained and approved Qualified FPI Advisors are now available to help you collect your data and complete the FPI:

• Saves you time and effort, and gets you access to the reports and dashboards.

• Ensures consistency and accuracy of data across all essential collection points.
