How Architecture and Landscaping Can Improve Campus Security

This presentation will be a shared delivery by a facilities management employee and a veteran law enforcement officer.  It will look at actual examples of architecture and landscape and include a thorough discussion of how each one either helps or hinders the ability to maintain a safe and secure campus environment.  The presentation will also include information about what can be included in campus planning efforts to improve security.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Participants will discuss the benefits of planning campus buildings, architecture, and landscaping to improve the security of people and campus property.
2. Participants will be share examples of what works and what doesn’t.
3. Participants will hear of examples of ways facilities employees can partner with law enforcement to improve the security of campus.
