Integrating Work Management Software to Eliminate Double Time Entry
The University of Utah migrated to a new work management platform in July 2009. One of the greatest inefficiencies in Facilities Maintenance had long been the disconnect between work management and payroll. The development of single entry time tracking using the work management system required extensive coordination between the University project team, the University HR department, and the 3rd party software provider. The final solution is a web application that imports the data from the work management software into the University’s HR/Payroll system. This integration application resides on the university web portal and is accessible through a secure connection. The new integration allows for daily imports and confirmation of supervisor approval. Three years after the successful implementation, we are now in a position to discuss successes, best practices and lessons learned.
