Campus Growing? Budget Stable or Decreasing? How do YOU Make the Tough Decisions?

Virginia Commonwealth University has under gone significant campus growth over the last 8 years.  While the overall campus has been growing, the focus has largely been on expanding the academic & science research space to meet the growing campus enrollment.  The impact on facilities operations and capital improvements has been significant.  VCU is adapting their facilities management organization and staffing to the challenges presented by an increasing campus density, new building use profile, and the O&M complexity of new space.  Another issue felt at the campus is the increase in gross carbon emissions and how to limit the impact that campus expansion has on emissions profile.

1. Explore convesations on which building operations metrics are the most important to track and which areas within facilities management do they impact.
2. Discuss what actions can facilities management  take to proactively address the challenges of expansion and put the campus in a better position for the future.
3. Gain an understanding on the driver of campus growth and how that influences the demands faced by facilities.
