Post-pandemic realities have reshaped campus space needs, and UCF is at the forefront of using real-time space utilization data to address these changes.

The university’s space management efforts, outlined in their comprehensive space utilization reports, reveal initiatives aimed at reducing operational costs, including a targeted $6 million savings and reassigning 550,000 square feet to address academic growth and research. This session will dive into how UCF is leveraging data to inform real-time HVAC adjustments, custodial costs, and space planning to drive efficiency and sustainability, helping the institution navigate financial pressures and deferred maintenance challenges.

In partnership with Degree Analytics, UCF is leveraging its existing WiFi network to gather occupancy data that informs decisions on optimizing classroom usage, consolidating underutilized spaces, and supporting hybrid learning environments.
