Fresh Faces, New Energy

April 4, 2025

Team Updates at APPA

At APPA, we’re not just growing—we’re evolving—building something stronger, more intentional, and better aligned with who we are and where we’re going. As we move further into 2025, we’re welcoming new team members and sharpening our internal focus to better serve our community and mission, and the energy feels real.

First, we’re excited to welcome Caroline Mahoney as APPA’s new Membership Success Manager. Caroline brings a dynamic background in enterprise tech, municipal planning, global sales strategy, and, yeah, even the film industry—where she managed the kind of behind-the-scenes chaos that would make most people tap out. Systems thinking? Check. Operational finesse? Absolutely. She’s already digging deep into the member experience, bringing a calm, data-driven touch to the noisy world of engagement while syncing with Marketing, Events, and Professional Development to build a more connected, smarter membership journey.

We’re also pleased to share that Audrey Sorensen has stepped into the role of Marketing and Communications Manager. With 17 years of creative experience—from landscape architecture and graphic design to UX and product management—Audrey brings a strategic eye and creative energy to APPA’s brand and communications. She’s shaping our strategy, content, and brand, driving alignment across APPA, and leading our collaboration with a marketing firm on a 2025 brand refresh. Off the clock, she’s shredding mountain bike trails and traveling to far-off places—because curiosity doesn’t shut off when the laptop closes.

Rounding out these updates, Anna Welscott has taken on the role of Business Manager. With over 13 years at Colorado School of Mines—where she led business operations in Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, and Construction—Anna brings a wealth of experience in budgeting, procurement, and systems thinking. Anna’s got a sixth sense for strategy, budgeting, and internal systems. She’s already making things hum more smoothly here at APPA. Oh, and she’s also an experienced sailor who spent years circumnavigating the globe—because, of course, she could.

We’re feeling the momentum and are proud of the expertise and collaborative spirit these new roles bring to our team.

Join us at the 2025 APPA Spring Conference in New Orleans, where we’ll share a sneak peek of our refreshed branding and offer a look at what’s ahead for APPA and our community.
