Invest in Success is an exciting new program designed to develop and inspire front-line staff in their role at your institutions. This program is an investment in your front-line staff by providing them foundational knowledge and skills for success in their roles and as contributors to the success of their institution.  Your front-line staff are vitally important to an institution’s success so invest in them today!

Program Objectives

  • Lead as an individual contributor by developing the skills that make you an invaluable asset to your team and organization
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Identify strategies and actions for working effectively with others
  • Maximize individual strengths for successful outcomes

Program Outcomes

  • Reduce conflict and improved overall productivity within the team and department
  • Improve individual competence through consistently good performance evaluations and supervisor feedback
  • Increase in overall individual satisfaction and engagement in the team and department

Program Design

  • Two Track program – each track 8 hours of facilitated delivery
  • Interactive design of lecture, videos, and individual/group activities
  • In-person or virtual delivery

Track 1: You as an Individual

Understanding and developing behaviors that enhance you as an individual and a contributor to the institution

  • Leading Yourself – learn the value of investing in yourself and leading yourself to personal success in the organization
  • Emotional Intelligence – assess your emotional intelligence level and explore how you can better handle emotions productively and cope with new situations as they arise
  • Build the Trust – distinguish your role in building trust with colleagues to decrease distrust and tension and to create an efficient and successful organization

Leading Yourself

  • Define personal empowerment and an individual’s role in empowering self and others
  • Recognize personal and common barriers to taking initiative
  • Identify own unconscious biases and its impact on your success

Emotional Intelligence

  • Define emotional intelligence
  • Assess your emotional intelligence
  • Explore handling emotions in a productive manner

Building Trust

  • Recognize how trust in the workplace affects results
  • Identify common workplace barriers that can break or build trust
  • Apply skills to foster open communication, and build and maintain trusting relationships

Track 2: You and the Institution

Developing key skills that make you an invaluable asset to your team and institution

  • Understanding Bias – explore individual bias and its impact on our workplace relationships
  • Effective Communication – learn the basics of good communication in the workplace to enhance the positive impact you have on others
  • Building Relationships – understand the importance of developing and maintaining effective relationships with others in the workplace especially your own supervisor and teammates

Understanding Bias

  • Define unconscious bias in the workplace
  • Identify bias in the workplace
  • Identify strategies for mitigating bias for an inclusive workplace

Effective Communication

  • Identify the four building blocks
  • Identify common communication situations and challenges
  • Apply skills for effectively communicating

Building Relationships

  • Identify critical work relationships
  • Identify characteristics of a good team and team member
  • Explore tools for building relationships with your work team
