APPA Webinar: Building Blocks of Enclosure Evaluation

A major responsibility of college and university facility managers is to ensure that their buildings are as water-tight, energy‐efficient, and safe as possible. This means investigating and evaluating the building enclosure (roof, walls, windows, waterproofing, and structure) to define and resolve existing problems as well as eliminate future problems, thereby extending the service life of the building. Whether an owner is investigating a leakage problem themselves or they have hired a consultant for a larger-scale investigation, a specific approach can serve as a guide to determining and repairing building enclosure problems. Since the quality of an evaluation has a direct effect upon the ability to develop tight design documents, the presentation will reveal that a thorough evaluation can save expenses during construction, limit change orders, and/or after construction (i.e., service life).
