APPA Webinar: Replacement of Failed Steam & Condensate Direct Buried Piping System

The University of Massachusetts Amherst had a direct buried pre-engineered steam and condensate piping system installed between Steam Manhole 40 and Steam Manhole 58 that was approximately 225 feet long and had regrettably been replaced twice within 20 years due to pipe line failures.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will discuss the methods utilized to detect the failed section of pipe.
2. Participants will discuss our research into multiple direct buried piping installation alternatives.
3. Participants will review the project from the design our system with a engineering firm.
4. Participants will discuss total project cost savings and selling the system to campus administration.
