Back to School Through the Lens of ASHRAE

Join us for the third in a series of webinars, Less Talk, More Action: Tactical Topics to Return to Campus, jointly sponsored by the North Atlantic Region of the Society for College and University Planning and Boston Society for Architecture.

As the fall semester approaches, college and university campuses are readjusting their facilities in response to creating a safe environment for those students and faculty who are coming back to campus. There are many research and studies informing such decisions.

This session will focus on requirements for a typical campus upgrade, as well as review of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) recommendations and strategies on how to improve campus safety in response to COVID-19 pandemic. This session will also address some of the unique challenges for an urban campus response for maintaining campus safety.

Learning Outcomes:
* Discuss strategies to consider for use of existing campus facilities (instruction spaces, dining, housing, etc.)
* Discover ASHRAE recommendations for minimizing disease transmission in indoor spaces via HVAC systems.
* Consider possible modifications to the built environment to reduce the likelihood of disease transmission.
* Urban campus challenges and requirements for facilitating safety on campus.
