APPA Webinar: Designing Buildings for Maintainability

Getting ready to start operating and maintaining a new building can be an exciting time for building technicians until they find out the new equipment is difficult to maintain, maintenance access is non-existent, new expensive tools are required, and the cost of maintenance will be very high. This webinar will focus on the importance of design engineers considering the maintainability and the maintenance costs associated with the equipment and systems they are considering selecting.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the issues that designers need to address to address the maintainability factor.
2. Learn about how to avoid the trap of selecting systems and equipment to maximize energy efficiency and/or sustainability without addressing the maintainability of the equipment.
3. Learn about the importance of estimating the maintenance costs associated with the selected equipment and systems before the final selection has been made.
4. Learn about importance of having discussions between the designers and the building technicians to review the pros and cons of the equipment that may be selected.
