The Turf and Ornamental Conference of Northwest Pennsylvania, presented by Penn State Extension, will offer information about the latest research and management in the green industry. Participants also can earn Pennsylvania Pesticide Certification credits and a range of continuing education credits.
Scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Allegheny College Campus Center, 520 N. Main St., Meadville, the event is sponsored by the college and the Keystone Athletic Field Managers Organization. Featuring world-renowned speakers and more than 30 commercial exhibitors, the day-long green industry extravaganza will include seven presentations and breakout sessions.
Titles include “Safe Calibration, Read the Label, Proper PPE,” “How About the Neighbors (Controlling Drift),” “Turf Insect ID,” “Woody Ornamentals Insect and Disease Update,” “Spotted Lanternfly Update,” “Turf Weed Review,” and “Conifer Diseases.”
Anyone working in the green industry will find attending this event beneficial, according to conference coordinator Jeffrey Fowler, senior extension educator specializing in horticulture. “This is the premier green industry conference in northwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and western New York,” he said. “And we will be offering credits in Category 6, 7, 18, and 23, as well as Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Certified Sports Field Manager continuing education credits.”
