Spring Issue Cover Design Submissions

We invite APPA members to submit original designs for the Spring issue cover of Facilities Manager magazine. The selected design will appear on the magazine cover and represent the facilities profession across higher education.

What We’re Looking For

Submitted designs should:

  • Reflect APPA member institutions
    Showcase colleges, universities, or campus environments in a way that feels authentic and inclusive.

  • Capture spring energy and activity
    Highlight campus life in spring—people, places, growth, renewal, or seasonal momentum.

  • Represent facilities and member impact
    Illustrate the essential role facilities professionals play in supporting learning, research, sustainability, safety, and community.

  • Align with Facilities Manager values
    Designs should reflect the magazine’s focus on:

    • Leadership and professionalism
    • Innovation and problem-solving
    • Stewardship, sustainability, and service
    • Community and collaboration

Design Considerations

  • Original artwork, photography, or graphic design
  • Appropriate for a professional, national association publication
  • Clear, compelling imagery that works at cover scale
  • No stock imagery unless you hold full usage rights

Awards & Recognition

  • If your submission is selected:
    Your design will be featured as the official cover of the Spring issue of Facilities Manager magazine, with credit in the publication.

  • Other selected submissions:
    Selected submissions may be featured inside the magazine, including:

    • Interior spreads
    • Section openers
    • Article separators
      All featured designers will be credited.

Rights & Permissions

By submitting, you confirm that:

  • The work is original and you hold the rights to submit it
  • APPA may reproduce the design in print and digital formats related to the magazine, with attribution

Graphics & Images

  • Submit images as (EPS, TIFF, JPEG, PSD).
  • Pixel Dimensions: The following are general guidelines for a 300 DPI image:
    • Full-page:
      8.58.5
      8.5 x 11 inch, approximately 2550 x 3300 pixels
