Updating links in WordPress

Many affiliate websites run on WordPress. These steps cover the most common places old APPA links appear. Menu and footer screens vary by theme, so yours may look slightly different.

1. Find pages with old links

  1. Log in to your site's dashboard, usually at yoursite.org/wp-admin.
  2. Go to Pages (and then Posts).
  3. In the search box at the top right, search for www1.appa.org, then Job Express. The list shows every page whose content includes that text.

2. Update a link on a page or post

  1. Hover over the page in the list and click Edit.
  2. Click once on the linked text. A small box appears showing the current address.
  3. Click the pencil (Edit) icon in that box, delete the old address, and paste the new one from this page.
  4. Press Enter or click Save in the box.
  5. If the link text says Job Express, select it and type Careers Center.
  6. Click Update (or Save) at the top right to publish your changes.

Using the Classic Editor? Click the linked text, click the chain link icon in the toolbar, paste the new address, and click Apply, then Update.

3. Update links in your menu

  1. Go to Appearance › Menus.
  2. Click the arrow on the menu item that links to APPA to open it.
  3. Replace the address in the URL field and update the Navigation Label if needed.
  4. Click Save Menu.

Don't see Menus? Newer block themes manage menus under Appearance › Editor › Navigation. Click the menu item, edit its link the same way as on a page, and click Save.

4. Check sidebars and footers

  1. Go to Appearance › Widgets (or Appearance › Editor for block themes, then open the footer).
  2. Open any block or widget that mentions APPA and update its links the same way as on a page.
  3. Click Update or Save.

Tip: After saving, open the live page and click each updated link to make sure it goes to the right place.
