Professional Bio
Before joining the University of Virginia, Terry served 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after leading maintenance and operations organizations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Drawing on experience in military and higher education facilities, he is passionate about developing people and leaders, building high-performing teams, improving organizational performance, and preparing the next generation of educational facilities professionals.
Terry serves as Chair-Elect of the APPA CEFP Commission and as Vice President of the Virginia Chapter of APPA (VAPPA), where he helps guide professional development initiatives, including the Annual Conference and Emerging Leaders Summit. He holds bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Management, a master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and is pursuing an MBA. Terry is a Project Management Professional (PMP), a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), and a Virginia Master Tradesman holding master licenses in Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing.
