Targeted Titles and Topics (T3)

T3, short for Targeted Titles and Topics, is APPA's focused, conversation-driven event format. Instead of covering the whole field, each T3 takes a deep dive into a single subject that matters right now in educational facilities, and brings together the professionals who live that subject every day. The result is a smaller, more focused gathering where you spend your time on exactly the challenge you came to work on.

At a glance

• Who it's for: Facilities professionals who work directly with the topic at hand
• Length: Roughly 1 to 2 days, depending on the topic
• Size: Intentionally small, typically several dozen to around a hundred participants
• Where: Currently offered at APPAU events
• Credit: 16 PDHs

What it is

Each T3 takes one current topic and builds a focused program around it, designed to go deep rather than broad. Sessions take one of two forms:

• Presentation and discussion. A presentation on the topic is followed by an open conversation in the room, so the content leads directly into shared, in-depth discussion among peers.
• Roundtable. Some sessions are curated as roundtable conversations with no presentation at all. A facilitator introduces the topic and poses a few leading questions, participants discuss them at their tables, a table lead reports out, and the facilitator summarizes the themes for the whole room.

Either way, the small group size keeps the experience interactive: candid discussion, shared problem-solving, and practical takeaways drawn from people facing the same issues you are.

Who it's for

T3 is for facilities professionals who work directly with the topic at hand and want to go deep with peers who do the same. Because the subject changes with each event, the room changes too, drawing the people for whom that particular topic is front and center.

T3 topics are chosen to track what facilities teams are wrestling with right now. Topics have included or are planned around:

• AI in facilities
• The future of facilities staffing, recruiting, retention, and the workforce ahead
• Space management
• Operational guidelines
• Sustainability
