CEFP Recertification Transition
Review recent CEFP recertification updates
The APPA Certification Board has approved several changes to the process for renewing your CEFP (Certified Educational Facilities Professional) credential. These changes are reflected on the new CEFP Recertification page, but we wanted to provide some additional context about the changes
There are two significant changes to the recertification process:
- Members with CEFP credentials in good standing may renew their CEFP at any point during their four-year renewal cycle and their CEFP will be automatically extended by four years from the end of their current renewal cycle (no longer tied to the date of purchase).
- CEFP renewal no longer requires the submission of individual recertification activities. Instead, CEFP renewal candidates will document that they have completed the required continuing education/certification credits in the CEFP Recertification Spreadsheet template and submit a completed spreadsheet during their checkout process. Renewal candidates attest that the information contained in the submitted spreadsheet is accurate. The APPA Credentialing Board will perform periodic audits to confirm the validity of submissions.
Why are we making these changes?
The APPA Credentialing Board wants to encourage ongoing continuing education and learning activities. By allowing renewal candidates to submit a renewal request at any time during their renewal cycle, candidates are encouraged to track recertification credits ongoing without the need to "submit at the last minute" to extend their credential.
The Board also wants to reduce the burden on CEFPs and staff regarding the submission and approval of each individual recertification task. Submitting all activities as part of a single spreadsheet reduces overhead and speeds up the process for everyone.
Where can I find my APPA CEUs?
Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) for APPA-provided programming are viewable in Member Compass once you log in.
NOTE: This will include your previous APPA activities—we are still in the process of migrating this data into our new website. Your prior activities have NOT been lost.
