The State of Facilities on Campus: FPI 2025 Findings Are Here

The numbers are in. APPA has released the findings from the FY 2024–25 Facilities Performance Indicators (FPI) survey, the only benchmarking tool built specifically for educational facilities professionals.
For decades, FPI has given institutions a rich, peer-comparable dataset to measure how their facilities data, performance, and spending stack up against others in the field. This year's report continues that tradition, capturing what's changed, what's held steady, and what the data signals for facilities leaders working under real resource pressures.
This year's findings span the core functional areas that define facilities work: custodial, maintenance, grounds, utilities, and administration. Together, they offer a sector-wide picture of where educational facilities stand today and how individual institutions compare to their peers.

The full results are available in two formats, depending on the level of detail you need. The Report Summary offers a high-level look at the headline trends. The Detailed Report provides the complete dataset, broken out across region, Carnegie Classification, enrollment, energy sources, and service levels.
